Uncertainties in two volumes
I had a terrific time at the Dublin Ghost Story Festival (19-21 August): it was a well-organised and fun event, with just the right number of people attending so you felt you got the chance to chat to everyone. We also had the launch of the Uncertainties anthologies of supernatural fiction in two volumes, edited by Brian J. Showers, and published by Swan River Press. World Fantasy Award Nomination for Cassilda’s Song
I’m pleased to hear that Cassilda’s Song: Tales Inspired by Robert W. Chambers King in Yellow Mythos, edited by Joe S. Pulver, has been nominated for a World Fantasy Award in the Anthology category. Congratulations to Joe for assembling such a super line-up of writers, and I’m so glad to be part of the project. The book is published by Chaosium Inc. and the artwork is by Steve G Santiago. Spooky Girl in Respectable Horror
I’m pleased to say that my short story ‘Spooky Girl’ will be appearing in a forthcoming anthology from Fox Spirit Books, called Respectable Horror, which is edited by Kate Laity. I’ve admired the work of Fox Spirit Books for some time – a more recent British small press, set up by Adele Wearing, which quickly began winning awards for its range of interesting titles. More importantly to the likes of me, it has a reputation for professionalism. Kate Laity is an audacious polymath of wide-ranging expertise, and it’s always fun and enjoyable to be in her company. Celebrating Nigel Kneale
As mentioned recently I’ve an essay in the forthcoming anthology, We Are The Martians: The Legacy of Nigel Kneale, which is edited by Neil Snowdon and published by Spectral Press. Tied into the launch of the book there will be a rehearsed reading of Kneale’s lost drama The Road at the Horse Hospital, London from 7pm – 10pm on 10 December, organised by Miskatonic Institute of Horror Studies. It will feature the voice talents of Jonathan Rigby, Mark Gatiss, Jason Morrell (son of Quatermass actor Andre), Claire Louise Amias, Clarence Smith, Annabel Bates, James Swanton, Michael Shaw, and David Morely Hale.
