  • ComicCity 2018

I’ll be attending ComicCity – Comics & Creative Arts Festival in Derry on Saturday with a plethora of amazing guests – the images below detail them all. What an exciting line-up! I’m looking forward to catching up with friends and chatting to fans. I hope to see some of you there!

  • Kildare Readers Festival 2015

I’m very pleased to be part of the Kildare Readers Festival 2015, which is taking place in Newbridge from Thursday 8th – Sunday 18th October. At 8pm on Thursday, 15 October Kim Newman and I will be talking about ‘Things That Go bump in the Night… and why we love them!’ at the Riverbank Arts Centre. Horror fans, and those who appreciate monsters, do come along and celebrate all that’s spooky – it will be a good time of the year to be chatting about fiendish stories. There is also an array of talented writers taking part throughout the week, so there will be plenty to interest you at the…

  • In Conversation with Posy Simmonds

It’s been a wonderful experience to be on the selection committee for this year’s British Comics Awards, as I’ve experienced first hand the variety and talent in the British comic book scene. The BCA jurors have been reviewing our shortlists, and will deliver their results at the 3rd Annual British Comic Awards ceremony, which will take place at 6pm on Saturday, 15 November at the Thought Bubble Sequential Art Festival in the Bury Theatre, Royal Armouries, Leeds Dock. The 2014 BCA Hall of Fame entrant is British comic book legend Posy Simmonds, who will be on hand to receive her award. I also have the honour of interviewing her at the event about…

  • women in comics at Thought Bubble

At Thought Bubble in Leeds last weekend there was a Women in Comics panel, which has been a regular feature of the event since the festival started five years ago. It was one of the panels I was very much looking forward to seeing, and guessing it would be a popular event I decided to get on line early. By the time the doors opened there was a huge queue making its way back almost to the door of the hall itself. While I didn’t attend every panel at Thought Bubble it was the longest line for a panel I saw that weekend. The line-up, from left to right is,…

  • junior winners 2011

For the past few years I’ve been involved in judging for the Galway Junior Film Fleadh, which is a task I enjoy tremendously. I love witnessing the enthusism among young people for cinema. Previously I was part of the jury for the Script Pitching competition, which is a live event delivered in front of an audience – a feat that would make most adults nervous. This year I couldn’t be part of the jury due to a schedule clash, but I’m pleased to report that the 2011 winner is Amanda Honan Coyle from St Joseph’s Community College, Kilkee, Co Clare. Her project, titled “A World of Our Own”, wins her…
