The Boughs Withered Launch
Today I received physical copies of my collection The Boughs Withered (When I Told Them My Dreams) – both the hardback and the paperback editions.
The project, which began in abstraction with a conversation nearly two years ago with NewCon Press editor Ian Whates, has finally manifested in physical form. I’m so happy with it. Huge thanks to Daniele Serra for the cover and Kim Newman for writing the introduction. And Ian for his keen editorial eye, and making it all happen.
The book is going to be part of a launch at Dublin 2019: An Irish Worldcon of a number of NewCon Press titles, and will be happening from 17.30 to 18.30 on Saturday, 17 August. It’s taking place at the Point Square Dublin, Warehouse 2 performance space. All members of Worldcon are welcome!
I’ll also have postcards that feature a photo of mine that’s on the inside cover of the limited edition hardback, titled ‘Witch Tree’. Anyone who buys a copy of the book (hardback or paperback) will also get the postcard as an exclusive memento of the Worldcon launch.
You can order the paperback edition (for £12.99) or the limited edition signed hardback (for £24.99) from the NewCon Press web site.
Or if you want a kindle edition you can order it from Amazon.co.uk or Amazon.com.
It also marks the first time that my short story ‘Bone Mother’ has been in print since its first publication back in 2007. This story has since been adapted into an award-winning stop-motion animated short film, ‘Bone Mother’, by Dale Hayward & Sylvie Trouvé, and produced by the National Film Board of Canada. It premiered at the Festival Stop Motion in Montreal in 2018.
