Interviewing George RR Martin for An Post Special Recognition Award

Tonight I interviewed George RR Martin at the GPO in Dublin after he received the An Post Special Recognition Award for his contribution to science fiction and fantasy, which is part of the annual An Post Book Awards.

The organisers did a stupendous job of transforming the GPO into Westeros for an evening. George’s award was well deserved, and he gave a timely acceptance speech (highlights here).

As I found in my interview with George on Saturday at the IFI screening of Forbidden Planet, it was an enjoyable and easy conversation. George is a generous and expansive speaker which makes a public interview a joy to conduct.
