BFS Nominee in Best Non-Fiction
I was stunned when I received the news that my book about David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me has been nominated for a BFS British Fantasy Award in the Best Non-Fiction category. You write work and you put it out in the world, and you hope that people will enjoy it. I generally don’t think about awards because there are so many factors involved that a nomination is unlikely. I try to focus on my current writing, and once it is done, and out, I turn my attention to the next project. I don’t look back very often because I’m no longer the writer that produced the previous…
Talking Twin Peaks
Thanks to Emmet O’Cuana for inviting me onto The Hopscotch Friday Podcast to discuss my book on Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, and the new series, Twin Peaks: The Return. I’ve thought a lot about the series since it aired, and it was great to have a chance to trash through some of the issues – we could have gone on for hours more, and there were aspects we didn’t get a chance to discuss. I think we hit many of the major points, and I’m looking forward to going back to the series after a time apart from it, and pondering it further.

You can get the t-shirt of the FWWM artwork (designed by Neil Snowdon), with or without the title, and in a variety of sizes. All thanks to Steven Shaw at the Great British Horror clothing web site for facilitating this.
Fire Walk With Me: At Home
I had wonderful welcome-home loot waiting for me after my trip to Helsinki: copies of my Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me monograph. Even though the book had been published before I left for Finland, the event had the hazy quality of a wistful dream. This wonderful stack of beautifully-produced volumes brought it crashing through the mists of fantasy and firmly into my reality. My thanks to my editor Neil Snowdon at Electric Dreamhouse Press, and Pete Crowther of PS Publishing for putting together such a high quality book.

And now is the perfect time to order it if you haven’t already. ABOUT THIS BOOK (from my introduction) “The temptation when examining TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME (FWWM thereafter) is to become bogged down in the minutiae of its originating TV series, and lost in the labyrinthine theories which have sprung up across multiple online forums and discussion groups. TWIN PEAKS is one of the first true Cult…

Working the Blue Rose Case
I’m pleased to announce that I’m part of the autumn season of lectures organised by the Miskatonic Institute of Horror Studies in London. MIHS is a ‘community-based organisation that offers university-level history, theory and production-based workshops for people of all ages. The Miskatonic is a non-profit endeavour through which established horror writers, directors, scholars and programmers/curators celebrate horror history and culture with a unique blend of enthusiasm and critical perspective.’ Here’s the blurb for the autumn schedule: Mark Pilkington (Owner of Strange Attractor Press, writer/director of MIRAGE MEN) launches the season in September with his lecture “Rituals in the Dark: Evoking Magic on Film”. From the grit of medieval grimoires and…
