The #daffodils are out in #Galway in January. A rare sight. #flowers #spring The stage before... I saw the ConTempo performance this morning of the John Kinsella String Quartet No. 5 followed by the Brahms Clarinet Quintet Op. 115 with Michael Collins on Clarinet at the Town Hall Theatre in Galway. Composer John Kinsella was interviewed before the performance... what a gentleman. Two energetic lively pieces by very engaging performers. A treat. I'm trying to do more of this in 2019. There are plenty of world class cultural events taking place in #Galway all the time. #music #classicalmusic #ireland #culture #Spring is turning up a little early I'm afraid. There is still cold weather ahead. But #blossoms against a (temporarily) blue sky is always a pleasure. #Galway An old photo of how striking trees look in winter... appropriate for my news today. NewCon Press in the UK is publishing the first collection of my original short stories - a mixture of previously published work along with new stories, with an introduction by Kim Newman. More here: https://splinister.com/2019/01/17/new-collection-from-newcon-press/ #collection #shortstory #horror #publishing #trees Miserable weather in #Galway so I have decamped for lunch at a local establishment with leather padded armchairs and this lovely #fire. #cosy Potato and tarragon vegan soup, but with a curl of butter (in a tea cup), toast and coffee at Siar in #Kinvara in #Galway. Served with a cloth napkin too. It's been a long time since I got a curl of butter - easy to do and once was considered super fancy in Ireland. Yes that's an old school desk... ink pot slot and all. Recycle and re-purpose if possible... #Galway #food
