Guest of Honour at Fantastika 2026

I am so thrilled to be one of the Guests of Honour for Fantastika 2026 in Sweden!

Fantastika will also be Swecon, the Swedish National Science Fiction Convention, and will take place in Dieselverkstaden in Sickla, near the centre of Stockholm, from 23-25 October, 2026.

At the moment the other Guest of Honours are Anna Gustafsson Chen and Gareth L. Powell. Anna is a Swedish-Chinese translator! ‘She has translated about 100 works, including works by Nobel laureate Mo Yan and SF authors Chen Qiufan (‘The Year of the Rat’) and Liu Cixin (The Three-Body Problem).’ I’m looking forward to meeting her.

Gareth is an award-winning British science fiction author, ‘who also writes horror under the pen name GL Powell. He has written more than twenty novels, short stories and collections… He is also an Associate Editor at Stars and Sabres Publishing.’ It will be great to meet Gareth again.

Swecon usually runs Swedish and English language programming during the event, and by chance an Irish friend of mine told me she has attended several times and it’s one of her favourite conventions.

At World Fantasy Con in Brighton in November I met Swecon committee member, Carolina Gómez Lagerlöf, so we had a brief chat about next year’s event. It was wonderful to receive the invite before I won the World Fantasy Award!
