Wom@rts in Santiago
The Wom@rts roaming exhibition is being opened by Compostela Cultura in Auditorio de Galicia, Santiago tonight. It is titled I̶N̶ ̶VISIBLE, and features the work from three European residences last year which were responding in some fashion to Simone de Beauvoir’s work The Second Sex.
I was lucky to be part of the comic book residency, a life-changing ten days in Angoulême, France.
As I described before, my piece is called ‘Interview with a Sphinx’ and is a comic book narrative over two pages, which is hand drawn directly onto paper, using pencil, ink and colouring pencil.
Here are my two pieces framed and hanging in the gallery in Santiago.
Many thanks to the talented and wonderful Korina Hunjak who has taken the above photos today – I dearly wish I was there with her!
After this the exhibition will travel to Grand Angoulême (France), Rijeka (Croatia), and Limerick (Ireland).
The list of artists in the exhibition are:
Fernanda Álvarez Jimenez, Aoife Barrett, Haya Blanco, Teresa Búa, Cristina Busto Alvarez, Stéphanie Cadoret, María Castellanos Vicente, Fionnuala Doran, Marta Fermín, Mina Fina, Nanu González, Scotty Hervouet, Shelagh Honan, Korina Hunjak, Jo Kelley, Samira Kentrić, Melinda Kostelac, Raquel Lagartos, Hanne Larsen, Akvile Magicdust, Maura McHugh, Louise Mendoche, Merieme Mesfioui, Petra Mrša, Lorraine Neeson, Mery Pais, Ana Pečar, Audrey Potrat, Marija Stonyte, Martta Tuomaala, Xulia Vicente e Neringa Žukauskaitė.
