    A couple of days ago I heard from Tim Deal, the editor of Shroud Magazine, that he’s buying my short story “The Tamga” for issue number six. It will be the first edition of Shroud to be distributed throughout the USA via the Barnes and Noble bookstores. I’m delighted to sell another story to Shroud, and to find a welcoming home for “The Tamga”, a story for which I have tremendous affection.

    Today is a good mail day. Not only did I get a cheque for my short story “Home” from Tim Deal at Shroud Magazine, but I received the latest edition of Lady Churchill’s Rosebud Wristlet, which is always cause for celebration. It contains a new story by Maureen F. McHugh, whose molecules are imbued with awesome, and whose writing always pulses with genuine emotion. I can’t wait to read it, and the other work by an impressive line-up of talented writers. In the meantime I’m enjoying my stint in research-world, one of my favourite places to explore.   • "Home" sale

    Good news on a wet miserable day. Timothy Deal, the editor of Shroud Magazine, contacted me today to inform me that my short story “Home” will be in the second issue. I wrote the first draft of “Home” at Clarion West for the week Ellen Datlow mentored, but in a crisis of confidence I wrote a completely different story and presented that instead. I’m pleased it’s found a good home.
