MCM Ireland reviewed
My review of MCM Ireland Comic Con went up on the Forbidden Planet International blog today, along with some pictures I took at the event. You can see all my photos from the con on my Flickr stream, including photos of many of the Irish comic book creators who were at the event. By the way, have I mentioned that I have a Tumblr? I started it three years ago, but after a time I didn’t have the ability to maintain it along with my other various social media. Recently, I’ve gone back to updating it. It’s strictly focused on comics and art, so if that’s to your tastes you…

favourite images of 2013
I take a lot of photos throughout the year, using both my mobile phone and compact camera. So, instead of writing a blog post about what I’ve done or achieved during 2013 (most of which has been reported here already), I thought I’d highlight some of my favourite photographs from 2013. a long piece about a horny boy and an experienced woman
It’s Bloomsday. James Joyce is a megalith on the Irish literary landscape. Yeats and him cast long shadows over Irish writers even to this day. I doubt I’ll ever be as good a prose writer as Joyce, or as good a poet as Yeats, but I hope I’ll discover my own voice and style that will be considered genuine “McHugh” by those who read my work when I’m dead and dust. Today I’ll start with a look at A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man, which is a semi-autobiographical account of a young man’s life from boyhood to rebellious adult writer. Most people say it’s useful to examine…
