These torch-bearing ladies and their guardian lion These torch-bearing ladies and their guardian lions have watched visitors arrive to Coole Park for over a century. They have seen literary ladies and mystical men trundle through in carriages pulled by steaming horses, servants and labourers walk past gossiping, and the deliveries of food and goods for the mansion's gay assemblies. They witnessed its slow ebb and its ruin. They observed its revision and the carloads of hiking tourists, eager to walk among its sheltering woods. Stoic and impassive, they will regard new generations and different emergencies before their own slow decline and the ivy overruns them all. 33/42 #Galway #Ireland #CoolePark #statues

I bought a new pair of #wellies recently to stop s I bought a new pair of #wellies recently to stop some of the hesitation in venturing out in November's off-putting extremes. All the trails near me can become muddy pools that intimidate even the brashest of boots. There's a real satisfaction now of stomping directly down the middle of a mushy path and feeling the squelching beneath my rubberised tread. There may be pool splashing too... If only the difficulties of life would roll off as easily as wet #mud off #wellingtons! 30/42 #Galway #Ireland
