FantasyCon in York
I’ve just recovered from the double-header of Worldcon followed by Eurocon, and I’m off to York today, this time for FantasyCon – the annual convention of the British Fantasy Society. I last visited York about 20 years ago during May, and have good memories of of the city. So, I’m looking forward to returning to the town to be in the company of fellow horror and fantasy writers. Some of whom I haven’t seen lately despite the multitude of conventions. FantasyCon 2012
This evening I’m on a flight to England, followed by a train to Brighton for the annual conference of the British Fantasy Society, FantasyCon 2012. I had a great time at the event last year and I’m very much looking forward to catching up with friends and talking shop. Plus, I love Brighton! Here’s my schedule for the weekend: On Friday, the first day of the con, from 3pm – 4pm in the Fitzherbert Room, I’ll be moderating a panel on Does Gender Matter? BFS Awards juror
It’s been officially announced: I’m a member of the inaugural jury for the 2012 British Fantasy Awards. My fellow jurors are: James Barclay Hal Duncan Esther Sherman Damien G. Walter So I’m in excellent company. I’m currently in the last throes of reading for the Shirley Jackson Awards, so I’ll be keeping the momentum going into the BFS Awards. I will enjoy being given a short-list of material to read, and not every title/story that’s eligible.
