Womanthology

Womanthology

I’m sure many of you reading this blog have heard about the Womanthology project: it’s the brainchild of artist Renae De Liz, and is an all-woman anthology comic book that will be published by IDW Publishing this December, with all proceeds going to the charity, Global Giving Foundation. You can read a long interview at Bleeding Cool with Renae about the project and its evolution.

With the aim of raising $25,000 Renae set up a Kickstarter campaign for the project, and by the end of the first day that goal had been achieved. Now, with just five days to go until the campaign ends, the amount of money pledged stands at a whopping $78,000.

It is now offically Kickstarter’s most-funded comic book project.

It’s quite appropropriate that the theme of the anthology is heroic, since the outpouring of support for the project has been legendary.

So, it’s with a great deal of pleasure that I can announce that my short script, ‘The Nail’ has been accepted for the anthology. I’m paired with artist Star St. Germain, and I can’t wait to see how she interprets the script.

It’s a privilege to contribute to a project that exemplifies many things I believe in: the importance of stories by women, the vitality of female comic book fandom and the need for women to network so they can flex their communal muscles to instigate change in the industry.

I’m proud to be part of such an exciting project.
