MCM Ireland
I was back on the RTÉ Radio 1 art’s show Arena last night, this time talking about the forthcoming MCM Ireland Comic Con, which is happening in Dublin this weekend for the first time. You can listen to my contribution online now: I come in around the 30 minute mark. I suspect MCM is going to be a popular event, especially as they have carpeted Dublin with posters, so everyone in the capital knows it’s going on. I’ll be there meeting friends and colleagues at the Comics Village, and generally checking out the event. The arrival of the MCM ‘brand’ into Ireland heralds that traditionally geeky interests are now mainstream.…

ArcadeCon – Special Guest
The problem with any announcement on the 1st of April is everyone asks if it’s an April Fool’s joke. In this case it’s assuredly not – I’ve been asked to be one of the Special Guests at ArcadeCon 2013, which is taking place from 5 – 7 July in the Ballsbridge Hotel, Dublin. ArcadeCon celebrates the love of fantasy/horror/science fiction and geeky obsessions across all media. land of the giants
People might think there is no cross-over between geeks and fashionistas, but those stuffy stereotypes are vanishing. We’re all digital and cool these days. By Irish standards I’m almost a giantess, even though I’m not quite 6 feet in my bare feet. Most people see me wearing some kind of heeled shoe so generally I’m hitting into the six footer territory.
