there are too many movies to watch
I completed my assignment at the weekend and wrote a short screenplay. It’s about 5 minutes long, but that’s fine since I was taking the suggestion of a “short” script quite literally.
Unfortunately, classes today were cancelled due to our instructor being ill, which mean I’ve another week’s grace on the project. I don’t intend looking at the script, however. It’s done and dusted, as far as I’m concerned. Especially since I’ll be busy throughout the coming weekend.
On Saturday I’ll be attending the conferring of my Diploma in Film Studies. It’s clashing with the annual Irish SF convention, Octocon, which is inconvenient. I’m driving to the convention in the evening, after the conferring, which will give me all of Sunday to catch up with friends at the con.
I’m continuing to subject myself to a torrent of films – for instance I went to see an Irish flick, Man About Dog, at the cinema this afternoon. I’m also making a concerted effort to watch as many of my own DVDs as possible. I pick up DVDs on a regular basis, so sometimes months can go by before I watch a film I’ve purchased.
Recently, I finished creating an OpenDB (Open Source Database) of my movie collection. I decided a comprehensive database of my films was worth the time investment. It’s a snap to search for movies by title, director, actor, or genre now. It’s a useful resource considering how much time I think about, and watch, movies.
