Thu, 04 September 2014 FantasyCon in York

I’ve just recovered from the double-header of Worldcon followed by Eurocon, and I’m off to York today, this time for FantasyCon – the annual convention of the British Fantasy Society.

I last visited York about 20 years ago during May, and have good memories of of the city. So, I’m looking forward to returning to the town to be in the company of fellow horror and fantasy writers. Some of whom I haven’t seen lately despite the multitude of conventions.

Here’s my schedule of events, all taking place on Saturday, 6 September:

10.00am – From Page to Screen
What’s different about books and film and how can you make your book/script/pitch saleable?

5.00pm – Horror on the Small Screen
TV is getting darker, and with the recent success of American Horror Story, Black Mirror and Being Human, are we entering a new golden age of terrifying TV?

7.00pm – Comics on the Small Screen
Agents of SHIELD, Arrow, the Flash, Daredevil, Peggy Carter – is TV the new cinema for superior superhero drama?

On Sunday at 1.00pm – The Annual British Fantasy Awards Banquet starts, which will be followed by The British Fantasy AwardsJennifer Wilde, the comic I’ve written for Atomic Diner Comics, is up for the Best Comic/Graphic Novel Award.
