Tue, 28 January 2014 dive

In the stillness
between the blood’s pulses
the faint cry
of the despondent heart
can be heard
above the covering chatter
of determined cheerfulness.

Busy schedules fill the gaps in between.

But the sleepless dark
peels back pretence
with a surgeon’s precision.

What will you discover
in your open chest?

Perhaps treasure,
Once you face the
and delve
deep enough
in the echoing chambers.

“Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested: that is, some books are to be read only in parts, others to be read, but not curiously, and some few to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention.” — Francis Bacon
