Fri, 02 January 2009 bouncing into the New Year
For last year’s words belong to last year’s languageAnd next year’s words await another voice.—T S Eliot, “Little Gidding”
Welcome to the voice of 2009!
Last year was a good one for short story/poetry sales, and that came from a concerted and consistent effort to submit my work to markets.
I pretty much doubled the number of [...]
Wed, 10 September 2008 a positive exchange
Today I heard from Jessica Wick and Amal El-Mohtar, the editors of Goblin Fruit, that my poem “Exchange” will appear in the Spring 2009 issue.
I’m delighted because Goblin Fruit is one of my favourite poetry markets. Every issue is beautiful, and stuffed full of strange and lyrical work.
I’ve also been asked to record myself [...]

Overnight snowfall; The landscape bathed in lightSilhouettes the dog.
My breath catches,Escapes, a visible surprise.Ice bursts under heel.
Today is [...]
Thu, 31 January 2008 wandering on the shores of whimsy
It’s the end of January already. 2008 is here to stay.
I’ve been busy for the last two weeks working and writing. Whenever that happens I tend to forget about devoting a smidgen of effort for the blog.
The poetry bug has bitten and latched on. I’ve written more poems this month than I did during [...]
Tue, 08 January 2008 splash
Over the past few months I’ve been writing poetry on a more regular basis. I’ve no idea why. Usually I’m gripped with a compulsion to write a poem about a specific subject, and I submit to the urge since I try to go with the strongest creative push at any one time. It results in [...]
Fri, 21 December 2007 Midwinter
The moon hovers –Almost-fat,Ghost-thin –In the sapphire sky.
The solstice sun –Scarlet-fury,Winter-weak –Slips through skeletal trees.
My breath curls –Word-smoke,Lung-hope –With the forest mist.
The Earth dreams –Frost-blanketed,Ice-cosy –And I listen, still.
