Mon, 30 May 2011 going up north
This weekend I’m heading up north to Derry’s 2-D Comic Book Festival. It’s my first time attending, but I’ve heard really positive things about the event, so I’m looking forward it to (but not the 5 1/2 hour bus journey!).
It’s taking place from the Thursday, 2nd June – Saturday, 4th of June, and is completely free.
The Guests [...]
Mon, 18 April 2011 A day out
That’s an action shot – taken using my mobile phone – of the delightful Naomi Bomb, dressed as Harley Quinn, giving her bearded antagonist what for during UCD’s FanSciCon on Friday.
The event was a good day out for meeting my fellow comic book creators. In particular it was great chatting to Hilary Lawler and Deirdre [...]

Mon, 07 March 2011 the boy in the bubble
I captured this moment on Grafton Street in Dublin while I was wandering about taking a break from P-Con.
As usual P-Con was a laid-back, enjoyable event, with plenty of good conversation accompanied by the occasional drink. I had a good time on all of my panels – thanks to the smart, funny panellists speaking [...]

Sun, 28 November 2010 the snow convention
We had more snow in the early hours of the morning, but it made getting around Wexford somehow easier today. Last night the short walk back to our guest house was a little tricky due to all the ice.
Today a few brave souls dared the snow to join our coterie of sf/fantasy fans, although most [...]
Sat, 27 November 2010 snowy WexWorlds
The drive down to Wexford yesterday was good, if somewhat tiring, and on a couple of occasions made frustrating by a lack of signage – an old problem on roads in Ireland.
We went to the opening of WexWorlds – the Mayor of Wexford showed up – met friends, and had food.
This morning we [...]
Tue, 16 November 2010 WexWorlds 2010
From the 26th – 28th November I’ll be a guest at WexWorlds, the Science Fiction and Fantasy Fiction Festival in Wexford, Ireland.
A .pdf of the programme is available for download, and it looks like it’s going to be a weekend packed with lots of fun events – WexWorlds is primarily focused on young people, but [...]
Mon, 18 October 2010 blasted winners
I took the above picture of graffiti and tags in Temple Bar in Dublin today. Despite being in the vicinity I never got a chance to drop by to Octocon’s Dead Dog get-together in the Porterhouse as I was busy in the afternoon.
Since I was on the jury for the Golden Blasters Short Film Competition [...]
